Sure they do. Like this new GM(from the "talk" online), it's in the tank and part of the FPR. I know it's there because I've inquired many times over. Dodge has done this for quite awhile now.

Whatever the reason for it being where it is, I don't like it. There was a time when all parts were serviceable and those days are sadly over.

Seems that sometimes the manaul is referring to the old style external filter and other times to the in-tank filter. This one could be replaced if one was available but you would still have to drop the tank, replace the flex tubes and clamps and switch the regulator over to the new filter. There is some variation in filter/regulator designs between the different fuel modules.

It's probably cheaper for GM to do it that way like a lot of the other "improvements" over the years.

I change the FF on my 93 Civic about every year and there's always some dirt in it.

Yes it was a cheaper route for GM. Cost less and increased assembly line production.
I just hope GM gets on a better quality routine with the new 07' Silverado.
The rear drum brakes have to go!!!

They went to that GM-Bosch disc/drum in '05 because it gave a big improvement in 60-0 time and distance with better pedal feel, right.
