Default No cats OK?

I just recently bought a '99 with a 5.3 the guy who had it before me put a borla cat back on it (he said its the quite one) and it really is quite but has a nice tone ive never been a big fan of cats and I was thinking this would be a good way to make it a little louder would taking them off with out a tune be save or would it create a lean condion? Im not new to trucks/ cars but im more used to the old stuff with a carb and no computer so any advice would be appreicated

If you take the cats off it wil definately be louder. You will need to get someone to turn off the rear o2 sensors or it will throw a code.

I have a borla system on my truck right now, and it is very quite but does have a nice tone. I will be putting on the pacesetter headers, along with the y pipe, eliminating the cats. I will be doing this, as soon as tehy decide to be delivered. If you dont have yours done by then, i will let you know how it sounds. If you do have it done, let me know how much sound difference it has. I was thinking of taking off my borla muffler, running 3 out of the y pipe into a single 14 inch straight through magnaflow.

It won't hurt anything. Just shows the annoying light.

Call thunder racing and got some o2 simulators. They will keep the ses light off.

My experience without the cats was not worth the money I spent to take them out. Granted I spent a little more because I had them spooled so I could take them in and out when I wanted, but I always say it's really not worth it. But to each his own.

Oh yea!!!! Forgot to mention, do they have emmisions testing where you are? Sniff or OBDII? A sniffer will fail you, an OBDII will pass IF the rear o2's are turned off or have simms.
