Default Newbie question

Hi all,

I've been lurking around on the board for a little bit and I have a question that I hope you can help me with.

I have a K&N FIPK and when it came from the factory, the oil was literally dripping off of the filter. Not knowing any better, I put it on and after a while, I've noticed the throttle response is getting worse. I saw somebody had posted about cleaning the MAF - could that help, and what can I use to clean it?

Thank you for any help you can provide!
The Duck

Get some contact cleaner W/O OIL in it. Take out your MAF, spray it down and that should do the trick as far as the MAF. If the problem is still there, we have to bust out the thinking caps and look for other possible problems. Try that first.

I think you need to adjust the spring calibrator, and the split tail adjuster. If you do that it will respond like a rael nice piece

lol! I was trying to think of a witty reply to Hyde's post - something to the tune of the chrome muffler bearings (which only trimmed 6 seconds off my 1/4 ), but I'm lacking wit today. Nick beat me to it.

Thanks for the info, Greg - I'll give that a try and report back!

Be sure to check the blinker fluid level too. lol

Ya, it's prob. just some oil that got sucked onto the MAF wires and it is not reading correctly. Cleaning it should do the trick. Also, make sure the tube is ligned up perfectly to the throttle body. Sometimes it can be off b/c of the hose clamps pulling it funny. Good Luck

OK, this is gonna sound really rediculous, but does anybody know where I can get contact cleaner without oil? I called every Radio Shack in the Indy area, and no dice. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Travis
