NEWBIE intake question
#1
i have been looking at intakes to complement my super 40 and jba hedders and its boiled down to two. k&n or the AFE dryflow... i have had experience with k&N on my diesel and my dodge but a mechanic said i shiould use a dry filter media???? any thoughts??

I didn't really notice a difference from my K&N fipk that set me back $229, aside from making the motor a little louder. If I could go back, I would have either fabbed something from pvc, or just got a drop in filter.
Since I am cheap, I clean and re-use my K&N. The first time I did it I overoiled it and was throwing codes. It may be easier to just get the dry media filter.

just what ive heard hope its not to late but using an oiled filter can cause oile residue to come off and atatch to your mass air flow senser and cause some problems i went with a mac cai and put a dry filter on it and runs great i know the brand name is little known but i've had much better results from this than the k&n i had...

I agree with Thunder, build your own dry flow intake with pvc. Or, if you want to get fancy, I've also seen some guys use 4" diesel piping for CAIs, if you've got imagination and a little engineering skills, you can make a killer intake and not spend nearly as much. Home Depot, Lowes, local plumbing shops, and this site works well........http://intakehoses.com/Merchant2/mer...T&Store_Code=I

3 or 4" PVC and hose clamps are cheap.
