Newbie with header questions. mid or long tube
I've searched and read all the threads. I currently have a 4.8L in a 99 silverado. I am going to change to a 5.3 or 6.0 yet this winter. Just a simple cam change,etc. for performance on a budget.
Anyways, the first thing I was looking at was headers.I can't find any of the OBX deals anywhere. But I did manage to find a set of ceramic coated Doug's Headers(D3353-2) for $300 shipped BNIB. Seems like a heck of a deal since everywhere else they are $665.00!
What do you guys think? A good buy for the $300 and will they work in the long run with other mods?

Go with longtube. 300 don't sound bad, can't remember what I paid for just headers but my total exhaust cost right under a grand.

If you need Stainless headers really bad and you are tired of waiting for other companies LT headers to come back in stock try these..

OBX Exhaust Header GMC 99-06 1500 Tahoe Yukon 4.8L 5.3L
They will still fit your truck. A couple guys on this forum are running them on 5.3L crew cab trucks. They do not come with Y pipe though, but they are Long tubes and stainless. They are $325 +$30 shipping on ebay, but if you google you might can get them closer to $300 + shipping.
You can just run duals and not have to worry about a Y pipe anyway.

Pacesetters are nice if you live in a area that gets no rain or moisture.. I would give them 2 years in Ohio before they are toast.. The coating on them is far from great.. Just saying.. Spend the extra money and buy some stainless headers.. In the long run it is cheaper..
