Default newb Intake + Exhaust questions

Hey everyone i'm new here and new to late models too. I have an '04 Yukon that I just bought. I have a few questions;

Are the Airaid junior kits just as efficient as getting a K&N FIPK?

I would like to get an exhaust but have been seeing a lot of stories about drone. This is something I'm trying to stay away from. Do you thing a Magnaflow muffler welded into the stock location will drone a lot? I was looking at PN 12589. 22x11x5 inch case. I don't plan on gutting or removing the cats at all. Any thoughts?

And last but not least, what is the tallest tire I can fit on there, stock height and wheels, I'd like to get some 285/70 17s to fill it out a little more. It's AWD if that matters. Thanks for all the help and opinions!

The Airaid jr kit is just the tube and a panel filter. Pretty much any open air intake with a metal shield will do better. Airaid does have a full version too. But you could start with the jr and add the rest (shield/cone filter) later.

The Airaid intake tube was one of my first mods to my truck...total waste IMHO. The only thing it did for me was suck 100 bucks out of my pocket... It's the same exact shape & configuration as stock, except no air silencer built in.

For free, I modded my stock airbox but cutting most of the bottom of it out, and also cutting a good bit of the metal tray it sits in/on without taking away any structural integrity. It works very well and didn't cost a dime.

With cats in place the Magnaflow probably won't drone at all.

Awesome thanks. I guess I will just go with a full CAI setup like K&N or similar. Does anyone have an idea of how much a typical shop will charge to weld a new muffler in to the factory exhaust?

usually its about 40-50 bucks to weld it in but you would have to supply the muffler
