Ok so here it is I have a 02 2wd lifted Chevy Silverado with a 4.8L V8 w/some performance mods it has about 110,000 miles on it and it has been giving me some problems! So now I decided to upgrade but I need to find out some things first before I go out and buy something that may not work. I am looking at purchasing an LS6 motor but I need to know what it will take to install it in my truck? I know I may need to also upgrade my transmission as well. If someone can help me out or point me in the right direction to where maybe someone else has asked this question I would really appreciate it!

Best deal would be to jerk out an lq4/4l80e and drop that in. Best value for the buck anyway, cheap power especially over the 4.8.

 

I have always thought about that idea but is it really worth it? I mean I am already upgrading the engine and the transmission anyways. Why not take the extra step and put a new/used LS6 motor + transmission in it. On this new “project truck” of mine I want to push 400hp+ to the rear tires that’s why I want to go with the LS6 motor.

 

Ls6 + T56 would be badass...

 

6.2L Denali motor + 6L90E would also be badass.

 

I know there are plenty of options out there that I could do to my truck but i need to know what it would take to install these set ups in my truck.

 

depending on the motor you are looking at nothing more than upgrading the fuel system and ECM, depending on the tranny you may have to change supports and get a pig tail for the wiring harness. I took out the 4.8 4l60e combo and went with a modified lq9 6.0 and 4l80e and I am pretty sure I am putting more than 400hp to the tires. My shifts point are way off and it is burnning to rich and I can still run 12.4's to 12.2s with a crappy tune. I will soon get my truck logged and retuned and we will see how it is then.

 

After a long night of thinking and every ones opinion on what I am doing I have finally came my conclusion of what to do with my truck. I am going to go with lq9 6.0 and 4l80e set up! NOW ITS TIME FOR SHOPPING!!! Let me know if you knwo any one who is selling a new/used set up! THANKS!!
