whats up guys i am new to the truck world but am very good with the ls style motors as i do alot of installs on the sides. what kind of bolt on stuff would you guys suggest. i am getting ready to get an 03 rcsb 5.3 auto truck. i am going with an asp pulley, pacesetter headers, t-stat, and e fans. waht kind of air intake are you guys running? any tips will be greatly appreciated. done alot of searching around, also what cams are you guys running in trucks from what i understand a 224 cam is like the trex is in a fbody.

AEM, K&N, AirRaid, and Outlaw are all good brands for a CAI setup. The 224/224 cam is a good starter cam if you want to up the power and be very streetable. As far as it being like the T-Rex, I wouldn't go that far. There are much bigger cams being used in these trucks. I'd also recommend a good cat-back or muffler such as the Magnaflow or Hooker Aerochamber. Also, if you plan to do the cam you're going to want to build up that 4L60E. Those trannys dont hold near as much power in these trucks as they do in f-bodys. So I'd either recommend a 4L80E swap or start beefing it up with aftermarket parts. You're also gonna get tired of that G80 rear end quick, so an Eaton posi unit is a very good upgrade.

Just depends on what you're looking for out of the truck, are you trying to stay N/A or interested in going with FI? How much are you looking to spend?
As for the intakes, I suggest just picking one out or making your own. You won't notice a huge difference in this area no matter what brand you choose.

glad you mentioned that about the rear didn't even think of that. i am a gm tech and do all of my own work and i had a feeling the trans would not last long, mainly just see alot of 3/4 clutch problems. planned to go through that as soon as i get it. what about stall size, my car has a yank pt4200 to big for a truck. thanks for all the help man, i am steve by the way. nice to see you guys helping out.

Throw away the 5.3 and get at least an LQ9 (6.0) for short money. In your truck it'll instantly drop your times >1sec. Then do a few mods.
Take it from a former Fbod, Z06 and Whipplecharged 5.3 guy.
