Default NEW track times....truck is still slow!

New best of 16.33 @ 86.0mph
backed up with a 16.38 @87.6mph
2.434 60'

Finally got some good launches without wheelspin and the truck is broken in some (7000mi.), & temp was ~47°. I can't believe how good this thing MPH's, had three passes over 87mph. Not bad for 100% stock and a half-tank full of gas. I weighed it after I left the track and with me inside it was 5660lbs.

Jason-
Whats up with the Escalade pistons? That previous thread was never finished. Whats the part #? Are they lighter materials than the standard 6.0 or just a little taller for better compression?

Neil-
I saw a post where you said that Wall was open last night. I looked into running out there (didn't even know where Wall was hehehe) but didn't think it was worth a 4HR drive in both directions. I am ready to get out to Ennis for the 1/4 mile soon. Its only 45 minutes away. I do have a couple of 1/8th mile tracks close too. What was your 1/8th time/mph on your slip?

I more weight question.

You are 5580 stock and 5660 with you in it. Does that make you 80lbs?? If so, you need to be a jockey. Other guys will let you drive their cars. Hmmmm... I need to lose over a foot in height and 140 lbs , then might be able to get someone to let me drive their C5.

Did you see any other trucks running there?

Truck + Me + empty tank = 5580
Truck + Me + half tank = 5660

I weigh right at 200, so I guess you could say my truck really weighs 5380 empty, but I always figure in the driver for race weight.

The only other late-model truck out there last night was a '01 Lightning (Clay's). I think he ran a best of 13.8x @ 99mph. It's stock.

LQ9 Piston: 88894241
LQ4/LQ9 Rings: 88894244
LQ4/LQ9 Heads: 12562319

We ordered the pistons already. Will try to get Jason to post some pictures of both piston designs when they arrive. GM showed 8 in stock in the whole country. From what I'm thinking the LQ9 pistons will be true flattops, like the LS1/LS6's. Using the '01/'02 6.0L Head gaskets, also the same part number between the 2 engines. We'll have the same 10-1 compression as the Caddy when we're done.

"Race Weight" is you and the truck. Or the TOTAL weight of everything as it is going down the track.

P.S., man I wish I had a 6.0 in the Avalanche!
Congrats on the good times.

Hey Joseph-
Are you going to have to have it balanced with the new pistons? What are the benefits of having true flattop pistons? Are there any advantages of those pistons over having the heads decked to up compression? Make sure you post pictures of the new ones.

What are you going to do for PCM programming when you swap in the 6L?

Sorry for all the ??? but going to a 6L interests me.

Nope, it's definetly not worth the drive. You will run slower and be mad at yourself for burning up two tanks of gas. The track here is nearly at 2000' elevation.

1/8-mile time was: 10.588 @ 67.27mph
