Default New plan.

i work at a chevrolet dealership so i can get away with alot when is comes to warranty. however i believe an aluminuim block (LS1) in a 2002 truck might be pushing it.
so i have decided to keep the bottom end, however i will add a set of ported LS6 heads and a comp 206/212lsa112 cam. i will cut the heads 20 thousanths to keep the compression. i just hope the valves will clear the pistons. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

well i am ready for ideas or laughter.

ehhh... why not a 6.0L, looks like a 5.3L <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> and they are bigger than the ls1 and are usually cheaper

any reason not to do that?

your idea would be great too though

The 5.3Ls have a dished piston and I believe the LS6 heads share a similar CC combustion chamber as a 5.3L.

I don't hink it should be a problem as I will be running a .591 lift cam on decked LS6 heads a PTV clearance is good.

Should be nice but, I would just stick with a nice set of ported 5.3L heads with that size cam.

The LS6 heads seem to shine on the bigger cubic inch motors with nice size cams but, I'm not sure you will gain much from them for the massive price difference over the 5.3's.

You shouldn't have any problems with piston to valve clearance with that cam.(I'm assuming the lift is in the .530-.560 range?)

What dealership do you work at?(no reply actually needed) <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> I'm sure there are alot of people on here that would like to bring there vehicle in for "warranty work" <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

i really do not want to spend the $$$ for a 6.0, i would rather spend it on the LS1 i have. the only reason i am using the LS6 heads is that i bought them for $200, with less than 10,000 miles in them, from a friend of a friend.
i am hoping to have this done in about two months. i already have the heads and gaskets. all i need is the cam a time. not to worry though i still have the LS1 in my garage, for 36,001 miles wich is still 32,500 miles away.

p.s. thank you for the replies.

Oh yeah, I remember now. You got an awesome deal on those LS6 heads. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

I'll buy them from you for $400. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
