yea i prefer to do all the work on my truck, that way i konw its done right, and if it isnt done right i have no one to blame but myself... however i dont weld, thus i still have factory exhaust from the manifold to the tip.

i have been putting off the magnaflow muffler for a long time because i dont have anyone to weld it and hate paying shop rates! Fvck paying retail if you dont have to.

I actually joined up here at PT becuase i hear there is tons of Cam info and i am already learning, i think once i gather the $$$$ to finally get my BB tune i will put in a new Cam, not gonna lie, im a little scared to drop a lifter

I was looking into buying a tuner/software when i saw one on craigslist, but it sold before i could get to it... it may have even been HPTuners. I like Black Bears setup becuase once you pay, he retunes for life which is nice when you plan on further upgrades.

So how much re-routingdo you have to do with the piping when you put in those LT's?

theres ups and downs to a mail-order. Say you do a cam and now it wont run. now you've got down time. I would buy the tune so the hard part is done and buy a cable (EFILive for BB) and software to log some runs and adjust, etc. Just easier. Take and hack your exhaust off with a hack saw and slide the magnaflow on it and clamp that bitch! haha jk, to each his own.

With LTs you need a whole new set up. You can still cut the Y where the bell housing is but I follow mine out to the tail shaft.

holy ****! funny thing is, i thought about using u-bolts on the muffler and calling it good... just not sure i would feel good about myself afterwords.

i was affraid you were going to say LT's require a whole new setup... i really have not looked to far into LT's (**** ive only had my truck 6 months) but it seems like a nice upgrade... but the full exhaust kit is like $1,500, cant remember the last time i had that kind of pocket change rollin around.

sh!tty... gonna have to put long tubes on the back burner

you're probably looking at Dynatechs. You can even go to scottsdale muffler and have your cats hacked up and put on. Theres plenty of exhaust shops around. Scottsdale Muffler is pretty expensive and I'd like to kick that guys face in. At any rate.. I put my magnaflow on with the u bolt and it holds just fine. The 1st one wasnt tight enough to crimp the metal so it fell off at the light at scottsdale and mcdowell, haha but I broke that one crimping it and put another on and its held up for miles and miles of abuse.

does the 4.8 have the same exhaust setup as the 5.3 (same dia. and all that ****)

if so, which dia. did you use? It looks to be 3" from what i can see but im not sure. Plus the 5.3 (not sure if the 4.8 is the same) has the stupidest dual out back into one pipe setup i have ever seen in my life! I was going to eliminate that and go single in/single out

Yea the 4.8 and 5.3 are the same. The long tubes are well worth the money You can get the LT and ORY and it will bolt right up to you factory pipe.

None it clamps all to gether. If you do it I would up grade the clamps to stainless steel clamps, you can get them from a NAPA store. so No welding if required at all.
