Default New fan clutch engages when cold...

Like the title says, I just had a new Hayden 2744 fan clutch installed to fix the nasty grinding noise coming from my radiator. Well, the noise still seems to be there, only it isn't just noisy ALL THE TIME, nor is it as loud as it was before. My problem is, this fan clutch stays engaged until around 210 degrees. It's 41 degrees outside, and the fan noise is deafening. The only time it disengages is when I drive with a lead foot and it doesn't get a chance to clutch back in. This **** is really pissing me off.

ANybody have any ideas? Does a new fan clutch have a break-in period or something no one told me about?

Does the clutch stay engaged regardless of speed? My fan clutch stays engaged when it is cold until I reach speeds of about 20 mph. And can you explain futher what you mean about the clutch staying engaged until 210 degrees? Do you mean the gauge shows 210 before the clutch will release for the first time? Does the temp stay put after that?

Like, you know how when you sit in hot weather with the AC on full blast for a while and then start moving again and the fan is ROARING at you? It's doing that from startup to operating temperature, regardless of ambient temerature, and then once it gets a little hot, it clutches back in AGAIN. It's like I've only got a 20-degree range where the bloody thing ISN'T blowing full blast. I feel like I'm driving a hovercraft around town.

I remember when I wasn't having problems with this annoying grinding noise(which still hasn't been resolved....I've replaced the water pump, AC idler, and fan clutch in pursuit of this khhhhhhhh noise coiming from in front of the engine. I'm about to cut my losses and just let my mechanic look at it. ) the fan clutch would be active upon startup, but usually within a minute or so of running, it would stop roaring the fan at me.

I had a Hayden severe duty that would do the same. It was brand new and the minute I ran it the first time I knew it wan't right. I returned it. Many times at first start it will engage for a minute while it re-distributed the oil but then it stops. This is normal. Sounds like you either have a severe duty that is designed to be on most of the time or you have a defective fan clutch
