Default new exhaust....few questions

well i finally got my exhaust put on..

ASM longtubes, cats, then back to indivudal magnaflow mufflers...

i need to put a X pipe in, but am unsure if location of X pipe makes a difference, whether before or after the cats.

it sounds good, but to maximize performance, i read that i would need an x pipe...as it is, each bank is completely seperate.

nate.

I was told by a local exhaust guru (Ed Hanson),who actually invented the x-pipe to run a crayon down the exhaust pipe and let your truck idle for about 10 minutes. Look at where the crayon line stops melting.....that is where he said to start the x-pipe.This is how I did mine and it seems to work great.

I have read that the method that BURLS1 stated is about the best way.

basically you can use a crayon or grease pencil (red is usually the best for visibility) and run 1 long thick line down the side of your tailpipe with your truck off and exhaust cool..... turn on your truck and let it idle for however long it takes... you will notice there is an area where the crayon will melt and then you will notice there is an area where it is still there and not melting as much or at all..... this is the area that people with true duals usually place an x-pipe
