Default Need some information

I drive a 1998 2dr Tahoe 5.7L and currently have a K&N and Flowmaster exhaust. I took it to local track and ran 10.1 fastest in 1/8. That time was with a box w/ 2 12" subs and spare tire in back. I enjoyed racing it alot. I ran with an older RS 305 and he never beat me out of 5 runs. Which made me want to start bolting new stuff on. Should I spend money on bolt ons for something that weights this much or wait and try getting something faster like a f-body car? And if so, what should I look into doing next for more power?

thats a prety good time, this is an ls1 board and your truck isn't an ls1based motor, really don't know all that much about how quick you can make those 5.7's.

i can tell you a stall really kicks *** in the 99up trucks, you can knock .5 off your ET with a stall that cost $700. prety sure you would see the same gains.

i thought about geting a dedicated hot rod but am really haveing alot of fun working on my truck, i get to drive it everyday, everywhere, mud, snow, tow, you name it. and then go and blast most mustangs/fbodys/vettes.....

98Tahoe, you didn't say whether you have a 2wd or 4x4, but either way a set of gears would probably help you a bit in the 1/8th-mile.

There's a few guys on the pacific-audio site who are fairly serious about making their Vortec 350 vehicles faster. Anything from supercharged/intercooled & turbo'ed Tahoes to stroked & blown Z71's. Might fish around over there too and see what folks have to say.

Thanks for some information guys. The tahoe is a 2wd by the way. I was talking to one of my friends and we thought of maybe doing a 75 dry shot on it. But then we was wondering with the 80k miles on it, how long the engine would hold up. So could someone tell me if I did spray it, how long I could possibly run before I ran into problems? If I did have problems would it be worth even putting the bottle on the tahoe? I was kinda thinking going with headers and programmer, but I doubt them would add up to nearly 75hp, and would cost around the same price.

just my .02 so no gaurente but i would think that motors life wouldn't be affected by a 75shot. last prety much for ever. problem is you will like the 75 and want to run a 100 and then a 125 <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> . i would expect that motor to last a long time even with a 125 on there, not sure the fuel system is up to that though, have to ask around.
