Default need some info from those that went from a 4L60E to a 4L80E

what was involved in doing this, what all do i need to do the swap.
i am seriously considering doing this instead of getting the 4L60E rebuilt again.
do i need move the trans bracket?
shorten the drive shaft?
what is the gear ratio like
is it worth it if im not putting out an ungoddly amount of HP
(all tho i have plans for other things, just not at this time)
any info would greatly help me.
i just dont think that the 60E can take allot of abuse.
thanks,
Daniel

With your mods, I'll bet a WELL BUILT 4l60e would last a long time.

yeah i know, but i know guys around here that are snapping output shafts on these 60e's
ive snapped 3 or 4 of them. not to mention the hell im going through with this last transmission.
i figured i wouldnt have to worry about anything if i went to the 4L80E.
have it beefed up and last for ever.

You need a 4L80E transmission,a torque converter,a crank spacer with longer bolts,a dipstick with tube,a nuetral position switch with bracket,a modified crossmember,a TH400 driveshaft yoke and a Speartech adapter harness with programming.About $4000 plus a lot of patience, because not many transmission shops will take on the project and almost none have done it before.I have a 4L60E with every hardened part known to man for sale in the truck classified secton if you are interested.

no not exactly but its so F$%#% up that, i dont trust it driving across town.
plus in talking with my lawyer he said that i need to have it torn aprt so that i can see if the dumba$$ at ottmans where putting in the parts that they where supposed to be putting in.
right now my TC doesnt lock up and im running over 3 grand on the freeway. and i know im burning up my trans and TC. all because they dont know what the hell they are doing.
sorry i started ranting. gets me pissed off that i let this happen.
they voided my warranty, because the TC that was installed and that he said was installed correctly shattered my front pump. so he voided my warranty( he was looking for a reason anyways.)
so thats where i am at right now.
gonna have Century Automotive in Richmond Tx. tear it apart and document everything that comes out of it and then completely redo the whole thing.
maybe this time i can get it done right.

What is causing everyone to blow 4L60Es? Weight? There are a lot of F-Body guys that have a good bit more power that have their stock trannies last a long time at the track and street.
