Unhappy Need serious help with rear disks. Calapers not releasing...

My rear brakes starting squeking so i changed the pads. Well Since the calaper has been out so far so long it took some fighting to get the calliper back enough to fit over the new pads. Well since it wouldnt fully release when i let off the rear disks got so hot they started smoking, and the rotors warped. So today I rebuilt the callipers and replaced all the seals, and got new rotors. Still not working, so i took them back apart and wet sanded the **** out of them with 2k grit and put them back together. STILL no good.

At this point I'm lost on why there not releasing right. I've done alot of brake jobs and never had this problem. What could be causing this problem?

I checked to be sure the pads arent too thick and double checked P/N's too.

Is the outside of the piston nice and smooth? I've seen some pitted from being exposed for so long and they NEVER worked after pushing them back in. Also, I'm assuming you cleaned out the calipers and slides and re-greased them. If you didn't, I bet that is your problem. Lastly, I got a set of pads that were just plain too thick. Due to laziness, I sanded them down until they fit instead of replacing them. It ended up working fine but they were REAL tight prior to sanding. Sounds like you measured them before so that is not likely the problem. Obviously, you could try a remanufactured caliper.

I regreased all the slides, and the callipers are very smooth with no pits or any disfiguration. The front went nice and smooth with nothing going wrong. I hope i dont have to buy new callipers, that might get pricey.

I replaced calipers on my Tahoe and if I recall, they were around $60ea for the rears from Napa. Try it. If it doesn't fix the problem, take it back. Just a suggestion.

I too have seen hoses go bad on the inside. The only way to tell if its that is to crack the bleeder and if there is pressure and the brake releases its probably the hose.
