Default need a pic of 4l80 or th400 conversions

i'm going to go with a TH400 instead of the 80e, and i need to see the pics of your crossmembers from the guys that have done the swap. i just want to see how much of an extention needs to be made and whatnot. if anyone has them please post'em up or email them to me. thanks

Matt

TH400 has almost the same dimensions as a 4L80E it just doesn't have any electronics or overdrive.I think the conversion would be a step backwards as far as noise, drivability and fuel economy. It would be a lot cheaper and Precision does a locking converter conversion that might help with the transmission's efficiency. If you are just looking for 1/4th mile performance for cheap you might look at a TH350 that transmission has had a lot of performance development and is lighter and more compact.

I am in the process as we speak of this conversion and would like some insight on the crossmember as well. I am still waiting on the stall to arrive, so I have a few days left to try and figure it out.

as far as the th350, i've heard from several fbody guys that it's not as strong as the th400, and running a tbrake on a th350 in a truck wouldn't be a good idea from what i understand. that's why i went with the th400 reverse manual VB, all that good stuff. havn't decided on a verter yet though. i don't drive my truck very far really, and if i do i can just keep it around 60MPH, i plan on staying with a numerically lower rear gear ratio with the locker to make up for the higher RPM at highway speed. tx. term said he runs 3krpm at 70(i think)mph with 4.10s, so it shouldn't be that bad with 3.42s

I did find out that there was a 2WD, 1/2 ton 1500HD w/ the 6.0L/4L80E, which was indeed based on a 1500-series frame. The crossmember p/n is 15057776.

Good info on the crossmember! Also might look much cleaner and easier than my "to be" modded crossmember.
Parish's looks dang good though! Looks like stock to me! Hope I can get mine lookin' the same way.
