I have a 2002 GMC Sierra truck with a 4.8L Vortec V8 in it now i am looking to swap that out for a vortec 6.0l lq9 or lq4. I've heard everything will bolt right up and all my computers will work (after flashing computer) i have also heard that i need to find the 6.0 out of a certain year make and model vehicle to make sure everything will swap right over easily.

I need help with what vehicle year make and models have the correct 6.0L in them to correctly swap with my 4.8L ... please lay some knowledge on me so i can find the correct motor and start making some real power!

Use a 2002 and up LQ4,if you really wanna get techy, go for a 2004 and up,as they have coated pistons and the head bolts are all the same length,2003 had coated pistons but different length bolts,or find a LQ9 with the better rods 2006 and up??? I think.

If you can pull out the 4.8,the 6.0 goes in the same way,also a good time to do headers and all the other stuff you wanna do when you got the space to work with,pull the AC and power steering pumps off the motor while the 4.8 is still in and re use them on the 6.0,that way you don't have to crack any lines, do a E-fan swap while your at it too,save up for a 4l80E swap next.
