Default Need help picking between two cams..

i talked to slowverado about this last night and he gave me some good info, and seems to think both of these cams would work good, but i want to see what some of u guys have to say about it also.. Ok im tryin to pick a cam for the 370ci. motor im putin in my truck....The choices are

#1 Tsp 228/228 .588"/.588" 112 lsa
#2 Tsp 231/237 .598"/.595" 112 lsa

I want to go the the 231/237 but im afraid it will make me lose alota low end torque and im afraid it wont idle good and it will be to big for a daily driver....BTW i do have a 3200 stall and 3:73 gears,,and im gonna be using PP stage 2 ls6 heads on the motor...so what would u guys choose? thanks!!

you should Give Seth at Cmotorsports a call on this one
he's very knowledgeable when it comes to cam selection
he'll set you up with a cam to match your setup

I sure would hate to know I had to tune and drive daily a cam with that much lift and duration plus 112LSA in an automatic. The idle should sound like a Super Stocker. I would suggest a 220/224 115LSA on 115cl as a max for a daily driver.

115 as a max for a daily driver??? my 112 cam idled GREAT, just as good as ANY 114 once it was adjusted....ya just can't be scared of a little tuning or adjustment. go with the 231/237....the amount of low end you'll lose will be irerlevant due to the 50 new cubic inches you're bolting down in there...

if you don't like it, you can always yank it for something different....i really think you will though.

, that a good reason to go with it, based on slows post count.

based on my limited cam experience the 3200 stall isn't high enuff for that 231/237 cam, tuning isn't that hard at all but you truck will be faster with the 228 unless you up the stall to around 4000 or so, then the 231 would be quicker.

i am running a 234/232 114+1 with 59x lift and it sounds mean as f#@K i love the way it sounds and the way it pulls(above 4000rpm), it really was easy to tune for and i have never tuned for a cam before, so, dont let the tuning scare ya off, just try and match your converter with the cam.

i personally think the 231 will do fine with the 3200 stall. my 222/226 did fine with the little *** stall i had. now i'm sure a py3600 would have ran better with it, but it did run GREAT the way it was.

I'd go with a Thunder Racing 224/224 .55x 114 cam. Its a solid performer and you can buy these used for pretty cheap. Then if its too small, you could sell it and buy a big'un. It will be plenty of cam to get you started though.

231/237 is too big for a daily driver on a 3200 stall. It wil pull hard on the top and you'll need to spin it pretty high.
