I answered that question in post 6. Yes long tubes will clear just make sure you buy them for a 4x4 and not a 2x4.

Pacesetter is a good quality cheap brand.

They'll give you more power in the mid to upper rpm range but get a tune with them to take full advantage of the extra flow.

Pacesetter makes longtubes for 4x4, but they are not stainless, Theres also american racing headers, dynotech, stainless works.

Not to be a buzz kill here but going to LT's would move his torque curve farther up in the power band wouldn't it? If he is dead set on a towing truck, I would be more inclined to use a Tri-y set-up. Not that LT's couldn't work, but Tri-Y's would keep his torque down at a more tow friendly level.

Some people say they help the low end power, some say they don't. There's really no concrete answer because of all the variations in sizing and whatnot.

Hmmmm good point, I guess it really depends on primary sizing as well as system size. I have seen a test with 1-5/8 Tri-Y's vs 1-5/8 LT's. The Tri-Ys took the lead down low while the LT's didn't pull ahead until around 7000 rpm's, and even then it was only by 4hp. But then again those gains at the upper end would be magnified by a better than stock cam. So, if the rest of the engine were to remain stock, then I'd say Tri-Y's. However if there's a cam in the future, LT's may be the better option.

How heavy is your boat. I have longtube, duel 3" exhaust, and flowmaster 50s and I tow my dirtbikes. Its only about 1200# but my truck pulls it like its not even there.

If you are in NY I would suggest stainless headers.. How much money are you looking to spend on a header-Y set up? So you basically looking for a lil HP increase, towing.. This isn't going to be a all out modded truck??
