Need help with drags!!
#1
I need some slicks or some drag radials bad. I was thinking to the mickey thompson et streets or the bfg drag radials, but havent decided yet. My question is can we fit 15 inch wheels on our rear end. I need to get 15's so i can get some wider drags. A guy at Mitchem Tire told me that 15's wouldnt fit on our trucks because of oversized calipers and the rear disc brakes. What do you guys think?

15" rims won't fit over the disk brakes. call your local wheel dealer and buy some steel rim 16" take offs-you should be able to get them for 30. Buy some 16" et streets. you can get them off ebay in pretty good condition pretty cheap.

If you get the 26" tire your gear ratio will be more like a 3.73 or maybe better, I'm not sure how to calculate revolutions with a shorter tire. The 28" won't change your ratio much but you won't look lower in the back end like you will with 26". You will be quicker with the 26" tire, but loose some mph.

I'm gonna measure the brakes on my car and truck tomorrow. If the truck rear brakes are no bigger than the car brakes than there are several options for 15" rims. The calipers may have to be ground down a bit to fit some rims. I believe the bogart P1 series will fit without grinding but, they are exspensive. Oxidizer, why don't you hook us up with your bogart contact.
This only applies if the brakes are the same size.
If its just the calipers I wonder if the f-body caliper could be used.
I want to run 15" rims also because the tire choices are much better than 16" rims. I would like to run a 31*16.5-15(street tire) but, need to find out how to get those pesky leaf springs outta the way. I think I need to visit a local chassis builder.

to find out what your rear end ratio would be with new tires just take you original tire diamter divided by your new diamter multiplied by your rear end ratio. so for me it would be 30/27=1.1111. 1.111x3.42=3.80.

if you change your rear tires but leave the front ones in the front the same it still changes the gear ration right? i always wondered if the front tires affected it too lol
