Default Need HELP with convertor install ASAP please!

It took about 2.5 hours to get the tranny out, no problems. But when I got to the 3 bolts holding the stock torque convertor on I got stuck. Ive spent 4 hours trying to get those damn allen bolts out and cant budge a one. Any tips from you guys who have done this already? The starter is already out of the way.

Hey man I can't help but you might check the new automatic transmission section. I will check my manual and if I see anything I will post it in a few minutes.

If the bolt head is not stripped, try adding a hollow pipe to the end of your wrench to get additional leverage. If you're using a long extension and a ratchet, try using a 90 degree allen wrench instead with a pipe extension (right where the starter goes).

ive never done a converter before so i wouldnt be much help but....yeah the hollow pipe on the end and some WD-40 on them should help out, not sure what kind of bolts your talking about but just make sure you have a proper fit allen because when you have that much leverage its easy to strip them... good luck man keep us posted...

I have a short fuse, so Im going to spray some penetrating oil on it and try one more time. If that doesnt work I may just take a Air Chissle and bust them off. Ive tried a 3/8 impact, long allen, and a breaker bar so far so I guess theres not much left.

Try tapping on the end of the ratchet or hex wrench with a hammer. That seems to work for me on stuck bolts.

Yes, either heat up the bolts, or you can use an air hammer (chisel) to break them loose. I usually use my air hammer when the allen head strips out, get it hammering on the bolt in the counter-clockwise direction and once it turns a little, then it will usually coem right out by hand.

Mine were really tough to get off too. Just make sure you have the proper fit on the allen head. We originally thought they were star bits till we got the first one out. Nearly stripped the second one out before we relised it. Luckly the Yank came with new bolts. I just put a little elbow grease on mine and they came off but then again, I am no small fry.

Your not going to believe this ****! After all the trouble of getting the tranny out and the convertor bolts unstuck they sent me THE WRONG CONVERTOR! They sent me one for an LT1 engine, so I called B&M and found out they dont even make a convertor for LS1 applications. Now my truck is stuck on the lift with the tranny out. Just waiting now for the guy I ordered it from to call me back and tell me he has the right one. Maybe its just cuz Im pissed, but I think he should pay to overnight it to me.
