need headers install guide
I have coated Pacesetter long tube headers and ORY on the way. I've done some searching, but can't find any good installation instructions. Feel free to post a link to a guide.
The headers on my GTO were a total pain to install (had to drop the steering rack). I'm hoping the Tahoe will be easier. I'm assuming a 4X4 truck install is the same.
Any hints or insight if I attempt to install 'em without a lift? I will get a tune afterwards. Thanks in advance.

Yeah, I looked, although the headers haven't arrived yet, so I can't eyeball it very well yet. The driver side looks rather tight. The passenger side looks fairly easy. I'm assuming you have to remove the spark plugs and dipstick tube to make things easier. What I don't know is whether the steering column needs to be unbolted. I read in one thread where they removed the inner fender well for easier access, but I don't know if this is required for my generation truck or not. Is it better to slide the header in from the top or the bottom? A few helpful hints would be nice. Thanks in advance.

Here are the instructions:
1) Pre-soak old bolts with penetrating oil
2) Remove old crap
3) Install headers
3.1) If it doesn't go in from the top, go in from the bottom
3.2) If it still doesn't go, move crap out of the way
4) Install Y-pipe

Not far from Topeka.
Well, did some more searching and this is what I found:

Not trying to scare you or anything, but when I put my long tubes on removing the old exhaust was a nightmare. I have an 05 with only 48k on it. I presoaked all nuts and bolts for two days. Only the pass side manifold came off without any issues. On the driver side manifold I was able to only get two of the three nuts to break loose with a 3 foot breaker bar. The third bolt rounded off on me. I had to use a grinder to cut the nut off the stud. Lastly, all my O2's were seized. I was only able to get about 1/2 a turn on them then nothing, so I had to get all new one's.

You don't have to remove the transmission cross member...leave the drivers side loose and install y-pipe after you get the passenger side in place but not bolted up. Pretty much common sense. A good sawzall will come in handy removing all the old exhaust.
Good luck with your install.
