Default Need G.M. info

Ok guys I am new to playing with G.M. stuff. From the get go G.M.'s have given me nuthing but problems. Easy to build power in the when I am messing with old school but now I am learning new school toys and I am telling you my 01' T/A is having nothing but problems. So I am leaving that alone and starting a project with my bud.
It's an 05' ecsb with long tubes .521 lift, cam stock heads with ls6 valve springs, intake etc. All the basic bolt ons with HP tune.Throws down about 305 at the rear wheels now. If I throw on an ls6 or bbk intake with a 90mm throttle body am I sucking to much air for what the heads will flow. I expect to lose low end and we'll only be spinning to 6200 or so. Most likely nitrous will be installed also. I am thinking larger cam or 1.8 rockers with a better set of heads. I am not trying to spin higher than 6k or 62k. Don't want to lose to much low end to get this beast outta the hole. I have a set of ls1 heads from a camaro just wondering on the direction to go. Any help yo a Mopar guy would help!!

Hey man sounds like you got a damn good start on building that truck up! lol....for a Mopar man...you're doing good with the Vortec so far.

Dude, I'm pretty sure that the 5.3 truck heads are a better head for your performance than the LS1 F-Body car heads. The 5.3 truck heads flow good numbers and have a killer compression ratio. I'd probably keep them and if you HAD to do anything to them...just maybe get em' port matched and polished a little.

With what you got, you add some Spray to that...and that puppy will be screaming!

Keep up the good work man.....you're doing fine.

Sounds like you're definitely off to a good start. As far as heads go, check out WCCH's stuff, their StageI set-up sounds like it might be just perfect for your needs. Save your cash on the 1.8 rockers if you plan on going with a bigger cam, and just get bigger lift on the cam. If you're only spinning to 6200, you can probably get away with the truck intake, although the LS6 intake will definitely help above 5600 RPM. I'd also be looking into a higher stall converter and maybe some gears to help you out of the hole...something in the 2600-3K range for the verter and maybe 3.73-4.10's in the rear.

As far as cams go, you have a ton of options that fit your needs...check out the cam thread sticky at the top of this forum...I'd say something around .550 lift, with .210-.220 intake duration on a 114...just my opinion.
