Thats kinda the plan, running silverado ss exhaust only part i want removable is the cat pipes.... Basically, flanges at the header collectors and at the back of the cat pipes where they go into the intermediate pipes, already have factory style ball flange on passenger side pipe, just need one on driver side pipe...

You need to find a capable weldor to fit and weld them up. Typically when they leak, they are not fit up correctly. When you weld them the best way is to tack them up and clamp the v-bands together, then weld.

There are some v-bands with seals. You'll have to search around though.

Got v bands now just waiting on cats and i have found some aluminum seals for something like $6/each taht are supposed to be universal... Cant hurt but try em!!!

If i only needed one, id go with magnaflow..... Need 2, so at least for now im going with a set of thunderbolt 3" one with o2 bung one without.....

Any ideas on the best way to merge a 3" cat to a 2.5" pipe, without part of the connection being essentially a brick wall???

Use a short section of 2.75" pipe to taper it. My factory exhaust stepped up from 2.5 to 2.75 to 3" right out of the manifolds all the way to the cats and into the muffler. This is a 99 I am parting out but my 97 was the same setup.

That may be best cone out of cats to 2.75 and back down to 2.5 after that.... Need get cats and v bands installed and then see how much room im goin to have....
