Default my poor 4l60

got a call back from the mechanic today. He listed a million things he did, but the things I remembered was replacing burnt/scorched 1-2 bands, and trashed 3-4 clutches. Guess I killed 4l60 purdy darn good.

Expect that to be the norm if you don't do anything with it. The band and the 3/4 clutches are the weakest links. Did he replace the drum too? If not, the band will more than likely go out soon again.

i guess mine lasted a little longer than yours, about 6 months. I burned up the 1-2 and 3-4 clutches. I stretched the band. The killer was the sprag that basically disentigrated. There was nothing left from it. I used the MagnaCharger warranty to fix the trans, but I still ended up paying a lot of money to get it back just to stock and not even built. After researching, I realized that the 4L80E is the only way to go if you want a reliable transmission that could holp up to 500rwhp. My transmission guy said that he didn't have confidence in the 60 lasting in the long run even with the best of parts. The design of the trans is the main problem. A new trans will be in the works before N20 and a smaller pulley. I hate breakin ****!

Sorry to Hijack Why did you have to end up spending a lot of $$ if you had a warranty? Also How was your experience with them overall?

14,000 miles =

burned 3-4 clutches and 2-4 band. reconditioned trans completely, replace clutches, replace burned and scored 1-2 band and drum, replace valve body. etc etc

Im sure there was nothing wrong with the old servo,You need to get a upgrade servo in there before you beat on it. To bad the trans guy didnt drill the seperator plate and give a 1/4 turn to the force motor, that with a servo would help your trans life a ton.He should have done that as a minimum.Amazing the dealer covered it.
