My LS6 cam is in....
#1
I bought an 01 LS6 cam and springs, and thanks to some guidance from this forum, the truck is alive!
It idles much like stock.... a little higher than stock when not in gear, but slows down and has what I would call a very slight lope at idle in gear.
Everyone said I'ld lose low end even with the milder early LS6 cam that I got, but I think I gained some. I can spin the tires from a stop much easier than with the stock cam. If I stand on it from a stop it spins for a long ways, and the rear end even gets a little squirrely. When I step on it from a roll, it definately puts you in the seat better than it did stock.
It really seemed to increase power all around. I think this isn't a bad deal considering how cheap you can get this cam and springs for it.

I will have some track times before too long. When I get my tune, I'll be heading there.
I bought it from JBsC5 who pulled it out of his 01 Z06. He gave the cam and springs to me for 70 dollars. Then I bought some supplies such as oil, coolant, gasket maker, threadlocker, etc. I'ld say I have 125 dollars into this cam swap and am very pleased.
I could see where the 02+ LS6 cam wouldn't be as good in these engines, but the milder 01 cam is great IMO.
