Default Muffler/Exhaust options

Currently I have a magnaflow 5x8 oval muffler 6" long 3i/3o, dumped before the axle. It was fun when I got it, but now the drone is annoying me to "death". I've had it for 2 years, and it's time for something new. What case size and brand of muffler do ya'll suggest. I would like to get something with good sound, just not the drone....and no it will not stay dumped. I will either do a single side exit or duals. I would like to keep the muffler below $100, but willing to do $150 if thats what it takes. If you need any other info to help me decide let me know. Thanks

I run a Magnaflow chambered oval muffler I ordered from Summit racing. I do believe it was $95 muffler (plus tax/shipping), 3" in/out. Sounds good, low rumble at idle and really nice at WOT. No drone! I can PM you a link if you want. It's a little different from the Magnaflow you have now, it's not a race muffler like the crazy loud ones on my Camaro. Lol.

Anyone have a dynomax tru x muffler or the Magnaflow tru x muffler? If you do, did it reduce back pressure and does it drone in the cab?

Why through PM? If you post the link here you'll be able to click it just as well. The major difference is that others reading this thread can see and click the link too. So help others out and post the link here. It's actually more work to go through PM's and much less helpful to the forum.

Because I'm not sure if Summit Racing or Magnaflow are sponsors on this forum or not. You dont use direct links to non-sponsors.

Don't go with flowmaster, sounds good out side but the drone was horrible with the super 40 series, and that was with rear tips, now I have a magnaflow 22" dual i/o dumped before axle and is extremely low, bassy, and not near the drone of the 40 series.

Typically a bigger muffler should be closer to stock levels with hardly any drone. If you still don't like the new muffler drone, you can run your current muffler behind it to quiet it down more.

Got it. Forgot they're really strict about that. Maybe post a part number then? We can go and search that.

Like 69Camaro427, I will be running a 22" si/so 3" magnaflow on my 5.3. I didn't want too loud. I may have to add a resonator in line because of my long tubes. I had a flow master 40 series before and after a year or so I hated it. Too much drone.
