I'm thinking about upgrading my wires, plugs and coils. Has anyone tried the new MSD coil packs? Or are they just for high hp motors? They sell them for the GenIII LS1.

 

yea i was wondering too but i havent heard of anyone using them so i just put the on the back burner

 

stay with the stock coils..from what ive heard they are the biggest wast of money unless you just wanna get the red coils and red wires for looks..

 

I have the new MSD catalog and I can buy something else besides the coils that is worth the $700 price tag, the only really special thing about these coils is the extra connection for therr ignition controller. If you are running a carb then I would say these coils are worth but for EFI application a good tune will be far better than an ignition controller.

 

Buy a can of Red VHT and paint your coils red. Im done......

 

a waste of money with a set of the lsx style coils you can do alot one of the stocker coild put out the same volts as the old single style and they r running 8 cyl. with the lsx style you r running 1 cyl

 

There was a post about this several full moons ago. From what I was told, the stock coils showed to handle up to 1000HP with no problems.
The MSD coils = red color for a lot of $$$.
The O.E. ignition system on our trucks is well capable of handling what the majority of us are making in power.
Save money for a worthy mod or a visual enhancement.
