Default Motor is coming out for work.

Well it may be worse than I thought. They are saying it may be a piston clearance problem. They took down the oil pan today and now they want to pull the whole motor. If my aftermarket warranty company does not come through, I'll be taking donations

Or you will be looking for a 6.0 to install.

I am looking for a 6.0 to build. I'll call it "Project 12sec" I'm already on the hook for the tear down if my warranty doesn't come through. This is the first time I have had the truck in the shop. I have an aftermarket warranty and just don't know how they will handle this claim. We'll see.

****, I didn't know you were not using the factory warranty Greg. I think MTI honors those aftermarket warrantys and I'll bet they could have built you a 6.0L and installed it under "warranty" LOL!

If you have to take that motor out for a piston problem, swap the crank and rods. Find a crank and rod setup from a 5.3 or LS1 and have it put back in instead. Thats the only difference in your 4.8 and the 5.3. I am sure your bro-in-law could find a stock LS1 crank. The 5.3s and 5.7s have the same stroke. The 4.8s and 5.3s have the same bore, but different stroke.

How many miles do you have? You should have invested in a gauge cluster.

You need to talk to a service manager or a tech at that dealer. You would be suprised what a little $$$ will do at a service department. Have the parts ready before they start the work.

That would be sweet, but I doubt the dearler would go for that. It's worth asking though. Is Fast5.3 taken ? How about Fast6.0
