My truck with only 6 miles on the clock I drove it all the way from Blanchard, OK (suburb of oklahoma city) to Minneapolis, MN (875 miles one way) nonstop for 12 hours doing 75-80 MPH every bit of the way. That's with my 3.73 gears. I've got 5800 on the clock now and I have the quietest 4.8L I've ever heard in person. And people complain about piston slap on startup??? On a sub-zero minnesota morning while my truck was in storage, I had to go try it out and see if it made noise, quiet as can be. So if you ask my opinion, I think there's no better thing you could do than to keep driving it on a long extended trip when they're brand new. Just keep a sharp eye on all your guages and you'll be fine. I actually have had my best luck doing this.
