Mobil 1 5w or 15w?
#1
Hello all, just wandering about oil for the Yukon. I have been using M1 5w-30, but I have seen the red capped M1 15w-50. I live in SE Alabama and in summer we get approx. 90-100 degrees and in the worst winter maybe a week or two in the low 20's. Is the 15w okay for me to use?

Just realized that you were considering 15w-50, I was thinking 15w-30. I definitely don't see any reason you'd need a 50 weight unless your engine is on it's last leg or you've got some major HP and are taking it to the extremes. Once again, just ny opinion.

I did alot of reading up on the subject before I made the jump to synthetic. I went with Mobil 1 0W40 2 days ago. I think the Mobil 1 10W30 thins out to a 20W in our motors. Do a search for oil or for our resident oil guru, Patman.
