Default Messed up a 5.3l tonight.

Buddy has a 2000 GMC RCSB 5.3l with a supercharger. I think its just a cheap magnacharger with like 6 psi non intercooled. Well we noticed it detinating or pinging early in the day. Well we raced. Dead even threw first, second gear he pulled me half a truck then I got that back (my shift points are off just a weeeee bit) and then when he hit third BAM!!! Dead miss the in 2nd cylinder (drivers side counting from the sterring wheel to radiator).

Well we did this right infront of the house so limped it home all like 50 ft or so . Got home and Cranked it up and it is blowing blue oil smoke out of the exhaust header on the driver side. Pretty bad to. Did he drop a valve? Crack a piston? Maybe just break a valve spring?

if it was detonating, probably a piston or ring gland?

My guess is best case scenario, blew a piston ring. worst case scenario, he scorched the piston. The miss in the cylinder has me leaning toward the latter.

Yeah either way the motor is coming out IMO he just cracked a piston or the ring land is toast. Detonation=FUBAR pistons

Its the very top edge of the piston right above the top ring. It seems like number 5 is the one that always brakes.
