May I beat this dead horse ?

I haven't posted much here yet but I am trying to learn more about my Yukon before I do. My question is this, I just bought my K&N FIPK yesterday and wanted some serious opinions on it before I install it today. Is it worth it ? isn't there a mod I can do to the bottom of the airbox or something ? All I have done to the truck so far is a Magnaflow muff, and put some aftermarket wheels. I just wanted to ask before I DO install it. I know it's a really commonly asked question so please forgive me

i've never looked under the hood of a yukon, but i'm sure it is possible to take out the mounting plate on the bottom of where the airbox would be, so you have cold air coming up from in front of the wheel well.... thats what i did anyway... it should just be 3 or 4 bolts...

Remove the rubber flap on the side of the radiator so it allows more airflow in. Also behind the headlight there's a plastic bracket you can use a dremel to remove some acess material. But even if you do that you'll only see iat drop a few degrees and thats even if you drive down the road with the headlight off. So it's a preferance thing.

ok cool, so all in all, it's worth it to go ahead and install it. Is there really any noticable difference though ? I figured maybe so, sincve I just had the exhaust done as well.

Just don't drive though alot of dust. The filters suck dust right through. If I didn't have to use the K&N cone on my motor, I never would.
When driving on a very dusty road for about 20 miles, when I had my FIPK on, there was fine dust inside my intake tube, as well as inside my intake manifold. That's why K&N came out with that pre charger wrap. Unfortunately for me, my air cone is too small to further restrict it with the wrap.

i did both, i bought the k&n kit and then i cut the mounting plate and the bottom of my air box out. cut the baffle off, used a end off of a tube of grease and some silicone and a flat k&n and i swear it sounds the same and runs the same....took the kit back and bought a pulley

well, nevermind. The one I bought wasn't the right one for my truck come to find out so I gave it to my father for his new truck. I called Autozone ( the only place that sells them around here) and they told me the correct kit for MY '02 Yukon which is part number 57-3023-1 can be ordered but it's like $375 or something. What are the prices on the volants and any other comparable CAI's out there for my ride ?

MAN! I bought mine new at cost for $210, look around on ebay and such. My metal plate is off mine and I picked up a PreCharger for $30 new. The Precharger only restricts 2% airflow, I've had it on for a while now and noticed no power losses.

The Volant retails around $380 or so. Ii just bought one for my 01' 5.3L and it works great. Install was a snap and it looks sweet.
You have to remove that mounting plate below your stock air box and the new box has 2 inlets for air, the stock location and one on the bottom of the box which is open now due to the removal of the mounting plate. You can easily rig up a homemade cold air tube or buy the one from Volant for $139.
Nice kit IMO.
