Default maxed-out injectors?

ok i have heard it enuff times i gotta find out from yall. when i was at nelsons getting my tune done, allen had some problems getting the pcm to play fair. well, about 10 pulls on the dyno and the final #s were like 280 rwhp, and tq.. he never specified. well, my TR220 has SIGNIFICANTLY lower #s than other peoples with comparable mods. he did say the injectors were about maxed ( i believe 97-98%) think i would gain anything from bigger injectors?

I'm not a tuner by any means but at 90+% you need to get bigger injectors. If you're at 98% that means you are really really close to doing damage. I learned the hard way. Popped #7 ringland on my 5.3 because I was at 128% duty cycle . Allen may have had to adjust your tune to keep it under 100%. Even if it doesn't gain you any HP it is a wise investment. Ask Allen if you go bigger can he squeeze more power out of it.

You shouldn't be out of injector at 280 rwhp. The stock injectors should support 320+, but that is rpm dependent. Since you aren't out of injector, then its not hindering your making power. I ran my SS with cam, headers, etc... on stock injectors for a while. It leaned up after 6000 rpms, but still ran strong.

Its not the best thing to push the stock injector to the limit, but unless you plan on lots more mods, I'd stick with your current injectors.

Look at it like this - if its getting enough fuel and not going lean on the upper end and detonating, then its not likely that the injectors are costing you power. Even at 90%+ duty cycle, you should still be getting all the fuel you need.

Looks like you already have part of the answer.... I'd check the tune. Getting correct A/F ratio and timing without any knock retard is key to making higher power numbers. If your tuner had issues...... then ......

well i am not saying nelsons tune is bad i am just saying he had trouble with the PCM. what is it about the '02 PCM swap that is so special to us 99-00 guys? i know he got the A/F where he wanted it, so i dont think that is it.

Take it to the track. May just be the dyno especially since you say it runs well.

if my truck only has 280 hp, 500 would most likey make my paint flake off on the interstate. this thing pulls hard, and i know of no dyno close by. i guess i just need to go to the track.

Dyno numbers dont mean ****, they are only a tuning tool!!

I dynoed 277rwhp after my H/C swap and as far as I know Im the only NA ECSB z71 who has run a 13. Ive also seen dyno's that looked killer but yet the vehicle didnt perform. If dyno's mattered we wouldnt need to go to the track.

anyone know when KCIR opens? this is the closest 1/4 around. 13.9 with 277 hp is badass, especially for the weight. i need to run this thing, so i know for sure.
