I'm not a fan. I'd just say descreen the stock maf and save the cash for "real" power.

1. Where does 500hp come from?

I'm not saying you need to go descreen your maf but...
Yes or No...
Do the aftermarket mafs come without a screen? Wouldn't descreening the stock maf have the same effect?

It MAY make the engine stumble at idle

The aftermarket MAF's have a different electronic set up than a stock does.

IMO gains really depend on what else you have done to it.....

dont get an aftermarket maf... i'm guessin you were looking at grantinelli or something like that. Dont worry about it, there arent any true hp/tq gains from it, and its really not nessasary. And about the descreening thing, i havent seen a difference with the screen or w/o it, but i would just leave it alone. If you really wanna do something about it, you can get rid of it all togetther. If you can, get the truck on a dyno and have them tune for speed density i beleive its called, you wont even have to run an maf anymore, i beleive it'll unlock some hp as well.

I descreened the MAF on my 4300 it felt like the rpms came on faster. Alot of ppl have diff opinions and i think its because everyone has something diff.
