MAP sensor problems
#1
Im getting code P0106 I had a buddy at the GM dealership give me the step by stpe paper work to fix the code. Most of it deals with checking the map sensor. Ive sprayed every vaccume connection I can find with brake cleaner and cant find a leak so this leads me to think the map sensor is bad. The steps call for use of tools I dont have.
I tend to think this is the problem as it only occurs in high heat and I get kr which makes no sense and trim levels that will go out of whack for no apparent reason.
Anyone know of an easy way to check and see if the sensor is working properly, it does give a reading with hp tuners.

Viewing the signal on the HPT, the voltage should vary up/down depending on your throttle position and engine load. WOT should give the maximum voltage reading, closed/idle the lowest. Most are 0-5V sensors, not sure exactly on the GM models.
If it is a rising rate sensor, you should see about 1.1V at idle, revving in neutral should see spikes up to 3V ( will vary with your 3Kstall ), and WOT while driving should get veeeeery close to 5.0V.

one of the steps on the troubleshooting was to actually measure the voltage on the reference circuit this will save me some time.

I replaced the map sensor today 50 bucks for a tiny vacuum sensor(stealership wanted 80 ), 5 minutes after installing it I get the same damn code. So thats not it. Ive noticed I only get the code in very hot weather over 90 degrees ambient temp and very humid could also be related to running the ac. It could also be related to the head cam combo I have, at this point Im at my witts end.
Anyone else run into any problems with running high comp and large cams in a 5.3

I have the same code, from what Ive read its in 02+ models (GM had the code disabled in previous years), and is due to a cam and lack of vacuum. I have the ls1 hotcam in my 02 4.8L and set the code everyday.
