Default MagnaFlow's on...

...and I HATE it.

It drones EVERYWHERE, its loudest around 1600 - 2000. Can someone recommend something to get rid of this? I was thinking, maybe some bullets inline before the muffler might help. Anyone know of a bullet that as a throaty rumble to it, Like a Borla or Corsa? This is driving me nuts.

What muffler did you get? I've never had a lot of drone from my magnaflows but they also don't have a sound I like a whole lot... You think that magnaflow drones put a chambered muffler on there

I have a set of stock 01 WS6 cats with under 1K on them. If I cut and weld them for a 3"in/out, you think that will get rid of the drone?

im running dual magnaflows on my SS with an x-pipe and exit at the stock tip and have no drone at all...still running stock manifolds and cats though. theyre actually the resonators that come with the catback instead of their actual muffler...theyre 2.5" in/out 4" diameter and a 14" case length. i would think if you threw in a pair of those before your muffler they would help with the drone but quiet down the exhaust quite a bit. try an x-pipe if you dont already have one and if that doesnt help at all i dunno :\

Well, the muffler itself is an X pipe, so another one wouldn't do much. I am running Pacesetters without cats, so I expected it to be loud, but not the drone. The tone with the magnaflow is already deep enough, so resonators would only make that worse, I would think. I may be wrong on that. Anyone know anything about Pypes mufflers? I have seen them around the web, but haven't heard much on hear about them.

only thing id think of then is ditch the magnaflow and throw on a corsa sport our touring muffler. Never heard anyone having drone with those... I know how you feel about the whole exhaust thing though...i hate having an exhaust that doesnt fit my liking perfectly. Hell, i changed the exhaust on my SS 4 times before i got something i like. Hope you get it figured out
