Magnaflow vs Flowmaster
#1
I am trying to decide what exhaust i need to get. I have heard alot of good things about magnaflow but i dont want it to be too lound in the cab. recently i have been reading posts in the sale section, and some people are getting rid of their magnaflows because of too much resinition.
what are the pros and cons of both?
Any recomndations?

Magnaflow will have less resonation than flowmasters in my experience I liked mine they were just too quiet for me. I have cutouts now they are more to my liking. Get a 22" or 24" magnalfow it will have less resonance I cant remember the exact length. The 14" version is going to be the louder one. Flowmasters are notorious for bad resonance and less performance. Just get it to exit out the back and dont dump it and it wont be too bad.

Ive Had Both And Now I Have A Magnaflow Welded Case Muffler. Not Sure Of Length But Its Exiting Out The Back Like Stock With No Cats And Its Not To Loud When Just Cruising But When You Get On It It Sounds Awesome. Wouldnt Change It For Anything...except Corsa

This has been a well debated topic.I have also wondererd.The way it sounds is alot more people like the flow sound but the performance that the magna gives ya is better.I love the sound of my pipes (40flowmaster) but just for the performance part i might ditch it for somthing elese. It is all what you want

Flowmaster = the suck
I ran a Flowmaster American Thunder cat back for 4 years on my '97.....it sounded great except near redline, where it sounded too raspy (with cats!). Then, the POS muffler rotted out on the inside- baffles flopping around and stuff.
I made the change to a Magnaflow cat-back a few months ago and I will never ever ever ever ever buy another Blowmaster product. It's less resonant, has a better tone at all engine speeds, gets better fuel economy, and I feel that the truck pulls harder. best of all, it's 100% stainless, so it's not gonna rot out. I'm getting an '02 ECSB and the first thing I'm gonna do is cut off the Blows that are installed and replace it with either Magnaflow or Corsa.
.........just my 2 cents.

I had the 18" Magnaflow, dual 3" in/3" with my LQ9. Too loud at cruising for me. Sold it, went to 22" Magnaflow, same in/out. Still too loud at cruising for me. My Flo-Pro arrived today, so I will be selling the 22" Magnaflow next week. If this doesn't work, I am going to a Corsa touring.
I think the 6.0 just doesn't react well sound-wise to the straight-thru type. I wish it did work, because I love the sound outside.
