Default Magnaflow question

Right now I have a magnaflow welded into the stock pipes. I also have a K&N FIPK2. I was looking at my truck and I really don't like the way that the guy welded my tip on and was contemplating having my exhaust redone, not that I have money to waste but I like it to look clean, so I was contemplating having him weld up 3in pipe with a 3in tip from the muffler back, or have the single in out muffler switched for the dual in dual out magnaflow with the internal x pipe and then running to 2 and 1/4 in pipes dumped under the truck. Would 3in pipe, just one, or the dual in dual out with 2 and 1/4 in pipe off the muffler make me lose a signifcant amount of power over my current magnaflow welded into stock pipes setup? Engine is in the sig. Always wondered if 3 in piping on the 4.8 would sound any llouder or cleaner or if I am good with my current setup?
