Default magnaflow hurt low end?

if i was to get a magnaflow straight through design muffler. will it hurt my low end? or will the cats be sufficent on keeping some back pressure? i drive alot in town and my last tank i got 23mpg. every gear shifted out at 1300-1400 rpms. could this muffler help my mileage while cruising on the highway?
i just want to get some oppinions before i dish out $100.
Thanks Guys!
