Default Magnaflow exhaust questions

I'm looking to do a new exhaust system on my truck. I'm definately going with a set of ASM headers, but can't decide on the rest of the exhaust. I'm thinking either a Magnaflow cat back or a Magnaflow muffler with a Silverado SS tailpipe and tip. Do you guys think one would be better than the other?

Is any one else running this exhaust set up? How do you like it and could you feel an improvement? Does anyone have pictures of the Magnaflow catback tip and how it exits behind the tire?

Sorry for the laundry list of questions but I must spend dollars wisely.

MagnaFlow is one of the best fitting systems out there. The polished stainless looks awesome and has the best sound for the trucks. Gains are deffinatly noticable but I don`t have any rear wheel #`s. We usually keep them in stock just depends on the outlet you want. Start at $425.99

I have the magnaflow 3" s/s single exhaust on my truck & love it. It has a 4" polished 304 s/s tip that exits in the stock location kinda looks like a diesel exhaust. It definetly flows more than the stock exhaust but I couldn't tell that much performance difference with my application. It has a smooth exhaust tone that gets louder when you jump on it. If my digital camera battery wasn't dead I would take a close-up picture of the tip. The only downside of the exhaust tip location is it gets coated with dirt & road debri that the tire throws up so it has to be polished frequently. I have one picture on my picturetrail album of the back side of the truck & you can kinda see the exhaust tip but it is a poor picture due to the light source. picturetrail link

go to http://www.bbtriflo.com/ click on the sights and sounds page

it has a video and sound file of a 5.3 liter silverado, it sounds pretty mean, b&B exahust is pretty well known, nice stuff, surprised not many ls1 people know about them.

Thanks y2ksleeper, that is what I was looking for. I wanted to see how the tip exits and if it hangs down low like the stock tip. Sounds like I'll be asking Santa for a Magnaflow for Christmas.

benpimpin1, The fans I have are Flex-a-lite #282's. I had to get a wider 34" radiator to make them fit and I had them custom wired so they run low-speed all the time & switch to hi-speed when the temp reaches 188f or when the a/c is turned on.

Just for everyones information I have heard that the video on bb-triflows web site of the silverado with duals is a Thunder Chevy sold by courtesy chevy in arizona.

why did you have to get a wider radiator? dont they have applications to fit stock silverado's? is it pretty easy to wire those up like you did?

The flex-a-lite fans require the radiator core to be 34" wide where as the stock radiator core in my truck was 28.5" wide. I don't think flex-a-lite make fans to fit the 28.5" radiator but I believe that permacool does. The flexalite fans came with a variable speed thermastat controller that had a range of 180-240f & since I wanted to run my truck cooler than that I basicly copied the way the ls1 fans are wired & run the fans in series for low speed operation & parallel for hi speed operation. The wiring is not too bad if you are use to doing electrical wiring for stereo equipment.
