Angry MAF sensor

What a piece of put it on (granatelli) then drove 2 hours to work, what a waste of money. has anyone had any real gains from one of these? I feel like the victim of a joke.

on a side note, i've got a granatelli MAF sensor for sale! any takers?

edit: wish i'd read the bolt on thread before now.

i got the JET MAF and i agree about the waste of money. when i had my truck dyno tuned about a week after i put it on my tuner had to spend literally 45 minutes and four pulls to correct the A/F ratio that the senor was messing up. one it was properly tuned i think it may have helped ever so slightly, but you shouldnt need to have a $400 dyno tune to go with it.

The only purpose of a MAF sensor is to measure how much air is going into the engine. Changing the MAF won't gain you anything....it's not small enough to be a restriction on your everyday engine. It doesn't help you get more or less air into the engine. All it does is measure airflow, which is based on your setup downstream from the MAF. IIRC, the embedded IAT sensor in the MAF fools the PCM into thinking the air is cooler than it really is, so the PCM may add a few more degrees of timing to compensate. For the ridiculous prices that these things sell for, you can get a tune that will do the same thing the RIGHT way and will get you even better gains.

Changing MAF sensor for more power makes about as much sense as changing an O2 sensor for more power.

It'll work just fine if you recalibrate your MAF tables in your tune. You won't gain anything, but your truck will be back to its normal self again.
