Default maf code?

Friend of mine has on 04 silverado Z71, he gets a code saying maf insufficient activity SES light and all, but he can turn off the truck and the SES light will go away then come back 2 days later, any ideas to what it could be?

had him take the maf out and clean it, clean the connector, hooked everything back up and all was good untill he drives it about 50 to 60 miles then it comes back.

So cleaning it helped?
Possible it just got dirty from an over oiled filter again?

He might want to try another MAF meter from another friends truck or Tahoe.
You don't have one he could try on his vehicle? I bet replacing the MAF meter solves the problem. They do go out occasionally.

Be sure to disconnect battery before changing it. Also have the PCM codes cleared before starting the vehicle. He will know the results after enough driving logging from the PCM. Probably another 50-60mi.

Wish I knew that before posting................
I would have directed it straight to the dealership without saying anymore.

ive also known that improper cleaning has damamges the sensors, and throw wrong readings. i would do whats stated above, swing test it from another truck,

but... under warranty, thats a dealer issue, no doubt!! let gm pay for it,
