My thorleys came with the y pipe all the way to the cat.It really made a difference on my truck over the shorties.Shorties suck compared to longtubes.

do the thorleys bolt up to the stock y pipe, or do you need to cut and weld?

The y-pipe goes to the inlet of the convertors.So you have to cut the stock y-pipes off that go from the manifolds to the inlets of the convertors.

how much louder would my 3" flowmaster 40 be with AZSM's?

You'd notice the sound increase for sure. Cast iron manifolds hold back power and sound.
