Default LY6 swap

So my stock LQ9 + GT2-3 decided it couldn't take my driving style anymore and something let go while coasting through the parking lot. I let the dealer make sure it wasn't something simple and they suggested a reman LQ9 to the tune of 7k installed. WTF!!! I got a local speed shop to check around and this is what we came up with. I had to go budget style since I just bled out savings buying a house. No money to do a stroker unfortunately since there was no guarantee the old block could even be used.

LY6 w/19k miles from a 2007, (6.0 motor from HD trucks w/ pretty much L92 heads and intake)
TS 224R cam 114 LSA
tuned conservatively

my truck and other stuff:
2003 SS
05 fans
blowmaster dual from stock headers (bought the truck that way)
stock 4l65e
stock wheels

mustang dyno (pulled front shaft, not sure if tc was locked)
297 hp @ about 6000 rpm
277 rwtq

i can't find my camera but i will try to post the dyno sheet later. Not what I had planned for the truck but given the limited budget, I think I got a decent result. I never dyno'd if before the stocker pooped out. It was interesting that Charlie's timing tables hardly needed to be changed at all for the new engine with a different cam, and my tuner gave Wheatly's tune props.

I paid more than I should have, but total tuned with all parts was about 5500. Feel free to tell me I got ripped off, but I have a stand up shop behind the work which made it okay for the credit card to get a work out. Plus it is cool to see the LY6 results, not sure if anyone is considering one but the engine was only $1750 before shipping.

There's a bit involved in installing a gen iv in a gen 3 truck and it adds up fast. Did you get rid of the VVT?

yup we nixed the vvt, i probably would have had to use the 07+ pcm to use a vvt cam.

you're right as far as complexity, using the 07 intake involved modding the fueling due to return style on my truck, throttle boddy adapter, and they actually used a electronic device from lingenfelter to avoid having to change the reluctor (on recommendation by texas speed).

i am getting better gas mileage though....
