Default LY5 performance help

New to this site. I'm wondering if there are any easy to medium difficulty performance mods to wake up my LY5 5.3 in my 2008 GMC Sierra. Any info on cams would be helpful. the truck does have active fuel management so if i do cam work will i lose that capability. I currently run GMPP cai. Thanks in advance.

No, LS2 is an aluminum 6.0L that only came in cars.

I currently run the LY5. You might want to start with a computer tune..

The FAST LSXRT intake is worth 20rwhp over your intake, its a simple swap. An exhaust system (Headers/cat back) are worth another 20hp or so. Comp Cams has some AFM specific cams avaliable that will drop right in, or you can change the valley pan, lifters, and trays to delete AFM and that will allow you to run over .500 lift.

Wow the fast intake has an MSRP of $1047.48. Damn and a cam for $420. maybe i can live with a stock motor witha black bear tune.

Do you own stock in Wilson or something? Theres no way this guy wants to swap a Fast 102 on his stock 5.3.

Low,

Before you start anything, figure out what your goals are. IMO, you should start with a higher stall converter then a computer tune. Those two mods are going to "wake up" your truck nicely. If you want to swap the cam, delete the DoD. DoD cams are small and not worth the trouble of swapping the stock one out for, IMO.

Like mentioned before what are your goals for the truck?? The best start will be a custom tune from a sponsor to the right
