Low,

Before you start anything, figure out what your goals are. IMO, you should start with a higher stall converter then a computer tune. Those two mods are going to "wake up" your truck nicely. If you want to swap the cam, delete the DoD. DoD cams are small and not worth the trouble of swapping the stock one out for, IMO.
Well I was hoping for about 400 hp. Nothing to wild. I know I want a Black Bear tune, but have to do it with the cable since I live in AK. Maybe the GMPP cold air intake and exhaust along with the tun can get me close to what I want.

Why would you assume that, hes asking for easy power gains. An intake is as easy as it gets, Ive seen them as cheap as $799 on other forums new.

Hes got a CAI already, a good intake, nice heads, camshaft, and exahust are next. This engine is no different than any other engine that is a bolt-on type engine.

I happen to have had them and work really well. Everyone says "I run xxx cam and love it!" I just do the same thing with an intake. THe smile it puts on your face the first time you hit the gas makes it worth every penny. Plus you can sell it and get most of your money back, thats how I got to upgrade from the 92mm FAST to the 102mm FAST. Heck, Id buy the truck version of the FAST if it would fit my truck, but it hits my heater core hoses at the firewall (I tried)...

Sorry if this a dumb question, I’m new to this site but what is the DoD??

I can’t figure out how to make a new thread so I’ll just put this here lol Iv got a 07 Yukon xl with an LY5 and been doing a lotta research on doing some speed upgrades. I’d like a mild build since this is my wife’s grocery getter. My thoughts so far is getting bigger injectors and bigger throttle body. But alotta people are doing the dod delete, do the heads have to be pulled to do that? Does it really add any power? Also long tubes full exhaust and hp tune. If the heads have to be pulled I might as well do a decent cam. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance

Lets put some info out here.

Larger injectors do not just make you have more horsepower. Injectors are ONLY required when you outflow/make more power than the factory injectors can support. Being a 2007 newer body style, they are larger than the previous gen engines, so you outflowing them with simple bolt on's in not likely.

Larger throttle body is not required either, it won't just add magic power if you can't outflow it's size.

DoD delete requires a camshaft change, if you want it fully gone the cam must be changed. Otherwise if you want to turn it off you can just tune it out with one change in the calibration.
