Default LT header install question

OK, not this coming weekend, but the following weekend im going to be installing the Pacesetter LT's and ORY on my truck, and wanted to ask a few questions.

Can they be installed from the top side, or is it better to go from underneath? And is the only thing that will need clearance the retaining tap on the steering shaft?

i have the stage 8 bolts and am going to reuse the stock gaskets, and want to put new plugs in while in there, but might wait and buy some plugs and wires down the road.

thanks

I have put them in both ways with the same level of difficulty. The steering shaft is your only real obstacle. Another set of hands sure couldnt hurt.

Install from the bottom is much easier. Get yourself a set of stock gaskets and you wont have a problem with leaks. Disconnect the steering shaft in the middle and away you go. Very easy and straight forward install.

make sure you use either a lift or a jack that goes high(its easier from the bottom IMO) because then ur gonna have problems hittin the steering column and might hit the heatshield on the firewall.. the passenger side was the easiest... oh and have some help 2

I just installed mine on friday, they were not to bad the driver side went in from the bottom the passenger side from the top. I didnt disconnect the steering shaft! take pressure off of the tranny and take the crossmember out, take all the stock stuff out. The headers went in extremely easy, and the ORY fit with ease, I may have been expecting a little more difficulty with the new stuff, but getting the old Y pipe out was the most difficult. Make sure to go easy on pulling out the oil dipstick though, they can be fragile.

used stock gaskets and bolts. remove steering shaft bolt and spark plugs. i did mine opposite of what everyone says. passenger from the bottom and driver from the top. it wasn't easy. i think i would rather do a cam swap.

I put both of mine in through the bottom, drivers side was easy the passenger side gave me probs. Like everyone else said disconnect the steering shaft. Does anyone know if its easier on 4wd? It seems like it might be.

mine is 4WD and I didnt remove the steering shaft everything went really smooth. plenty of room to move everything around. heck I even left the spark plugs in. what would make you remove the steering shaft? Im curious there is plenty of clearance.

thanks for the info, i welded some v-band clamps to the end of the collectors and ORY so that removal of the y-pipe later on will be easy. Im also going to be installing a vette servo and billet 4th servo and aluminum trans pan while im under there. I have a transgo shift kit, but i think im going to start with the servo and see how much is stiffens up the shifts and go from there.
