Default LS6 intake track results....

Well honestly I am not sure the LS6 intake was worth anything besides cleaning up the engine bay.... Which was my main goal in the first place, but if i gained some with it all the better... Granted this was on a 4.8 and track tested at a 1/8th track....

I will say that the intake made the part throttle better, seems like it has more power than before just cruising around... Also throttle response is alot better...

here are the results
-----Previous--------New-------
60ft__2.010________2.031
330 __5.720________5.707
mph__60.45________61.19
1/8 __8.801________8.757
mph__79.04________80.03

The temps were roughly the same both nights... I will look up the exact DA tomorrow.... On the previous run I was shifting at 6400, on the new run i was shifting at 6600... I will say that the truck ran alot more consistantly, i got in a total of 13 runs, it ran 8.8Xs all night and 3 8.7Xs.... Previously it was all over the place....

Maybe with some dyno tuning and a longer track (1/4) it would do better... I dunno...

I want to thank dlt76028(David) for helping with the install, even thou he brought some of his bad luck with him... One of the injectors did not get seated all the way and it decided to turn into a gasoline sprinkler...

BTW here are some pics... I still need to finish up covering all the wires and triming back the EVAP hose, etc....

Well it does look a hell of a lot better except the wires there. Not much of a gain there but it looks like it did pick up a little.

2 things, I don't think you'll see any benefits simply because the 4.8L doesn't require that many CFM. I can see this on a 6L or larger engine benefiting. 2nd, why all the wires everywhere? Did you have to undo everything to get the intake to work?

IIRC TXSilverado didn't gain much if anything when he did the LS6 intake swap, and he's running a big cam fully bolted 5.7 & revving past what the OP is.

Most of that gain was probably due to the 200rpm higher shift point... I expect you would see the same on a 5.3L as well. A switch to a 90mm TB and a TBSS intake would have been worth more.

Ya he said he wasnt all that impressed with it on his. It would be nice for someone to come out with an intake to help out the smaller motor and not loose much or any bottem end.

Just don't put so much cam in them and you aren't going to lose "bottom end"
